We strongly protest against the Greek Federation because it does not forward to FIDE the results of the tournaments, held by our Union and chess clubs of Central Greece, for rating. It is unthinkable and absurd that even though our Union forwards to the Greek Federation the tournament announcement notices and the tournament results of the events held by our Union, with the request to be forwarded to FIDE, the Greek Federation rejects the request.
This has happened again lately with two major events and there is a total of 2000 games or more that have been played not being rated. To be more specific in an open tournament in Karpenisi Greece, which was organized by the Chess Club of Lamia, the Greek Federation did not answer to the rating request even though the tournament documents required for rating were sent by the Chess Club of Lamia, according to the FIDE rules. An answer from the Greek Federation was received during the first round of the tournament, announcing that there will be no rating!
After that, all the participants signed a protest that is attached to this document.
We feel that the chess community should be informed about this unfair policy of the Greek Federation, which does not contribute to the benefit of chess and chess players.
